12Steps.nz exists to answer one question honestly: which online casinos and bookmakers are actually worth a New Zealander's time and money — and which aren't. We test in NZD, we withdraw before we recommend, and we put responsible play at the centre of everything, not in the small print.
Our mission
The offshore gambling market that serves New Zealand is crowded, fast-moving and full of comparison sites that simply copy each other's tables. Bonuses are quoted wrong, dead payment methods like POLi are still listed as live, and the regulatory picture is usually explained by someone who's never read the Gambling Act. We built 12Steps.nz to be the opposite: a site where a real, named Kiwi reviewer has signed up, deposited, played and cashed out before a single star is awarded.
Why "12 Steps"?
The name is a deliberate nod to staying in control. We believe the most useful thing a gambling site can do is help you play within your means — so responsible-gambling guidance isn't buried in our footer, it's part of the product. We'll happily tell you when the smart move is to skip a bonus, lower a limit, or walk away. How we make money (and why it doesn't bend our reviews)
We're reader-funded through affiliate commissions: if you sign up to an operator through one of our links, we may earn a fee at no cost to you. That's a common model — but we run it differently. Commission rates never influence rankings, and several sites that pay well sit low on our lists (or aren't listed at all) because they failed a payout or fairness test.
