Ranked for stablecoin play across payout speed, network support, bonus value and track record. See our methodology.

A USDT casino accepts Tether (USDT) for deposits and withdrawals. Tether is a stablecoin — a cryptocurrency designed to hold a value of roughly one US dollar, backed by reserves. That makes it the crypto of choice for players who want blockchain speed and low fees but don't want their balance jumping around like it would with Bitcoin or Ethereum. You use it exactly like any other crypto: send USDT to the casino's address, play, cash out to your wallet. The one thing that trips people up is picking the right network — get that wrong and you can lose funds, so we cover it in detail below.
This is the whole appeal. Deposit 100 USDT and your balance is worth about US$100 whether you cash out in five minutes or five days — the crypto market can crash or rally and your Tether balance barely moves. With BTC or ETH, a 5% market drop between winning and withdrawing quietly shrinks your winnings in dollar terms. USDT removes that. It's also a smart way to lock in bonus value: a bonus quoted in USDT holds its worth, unlike a bonus quoted "up to 1 BTC", which is worth whatever BTC trades at on the day.
One honest caveat for Kiwis: USDT is pegged to the US dollar, not the New Zealand dollar. So while it's stable against crypto swings, its NZD value still moves a little with the USD/NZD exchange rate. It's stable, not NZD.
USDT exists as the same coin on several blockchains. The two you'll see most are TRC-20 (on the Tron network) and ERC-20 (on Ethereum). They hold the same value but cost very different amounts to move.
| Network | Typical speed | Typical fee | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| USDT — TRC-20 (Tron) | ~1–2 minutes | Very low (cents) | The default for almost everyone — cheap and fast |
| USDT — ERC-20 (Ethereum) | ~1–5 minutes | Higher (gas fee) | Only if the casino/exchange requires it |
| USDT — BEP-20 / Polygon / Solana | Fast | Low | Where supported by both ends |
Wrong-network warning — read this twice: USDT sent on the wrong network (for example, ERC-20 USDT to a TRC-20 deposit address) is usually lost permanently. Before every deposit and withdrawal, confirm the network matches on both your wallet/exchange and the casino cashier. When in doubt, TRC-20 to TRC-20 is the safe, cheap default.
| Characteristic | USDT (Tether) |
|---|---|
| Coin type | Stablecoin, pegged ~1 USD |
| Deposit / withdraw time | ~1–2 min on TRC-20 (once approved) |
| Networks | TRC-20, ERC-20, plus BEP-20/Polygon/Solana on some sites |
| Volatility | Very low (stable against crypto swings) |
| Fees | Very low on TRC-20; higher on ERC-20 (gas) |
| KYC | Varies; large withdrawals may trigger checks |
| Acceptance | Very wide across crypto casinos |
Buy USDT from an NZ-friendly exchange with an NZD bank transfer. Easy Crypto (New Zealand-founded) and Independent Reserve (Australasian, NZD support) both handle Tether; larger global exchanges such as Binance do too (check current NZD methods). The flow: verify your identity at the exchange (AML/KYC, separate from the casino), fund with NZD, buy USDT, and — critically — select the same network your casino uses (usually TRC-20) when you withdraw the USDT to your wallet or the casino. Send a small test amount first if you're unsure, and never share your wallet's recovery phrase. We don't quote fees, which change constantly; check the live rate before buying.
| USDT (Tether) | Bitcoin (BTC) | USDC | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Value stability | Stable (~1 USD) | Moves with market | Stable (~1 USD) |
| Speed (best network) | ~1–2 min (TRC-20) | ~10 min on-chain; instant on Lightning | Fast (network dependent) |
| Fees (best network) | Very low (TRC-20) | Network fee | Low |
| Casino acceptance | Very wide | Universal | Common |
| Best for | Predictable balance, cheap fast cash-outs | Universal support, simplicity | Stablecoin alternative to USDT |
USDT and USDC behave almost identically for casino play — both are US-dollar stablecoins. USDT is more widely accepted; USDC is a solid alternative where offered. Against Bitcoin, the trade-off is simple: USDT for predictability, BTC for universality. See our Bitcoin and Ethereum guides for those coins.
New Zealand has no licensed domestic online casinos under the Gambling Act 2003, so the sites Kiwis use are offshore (Curaçao, Anjouan, Costa Rica). It is not illegal for you to play at them, and USDT is legal to hold and use in NZ (crypto services are FMA-regulated). A new licensing regime is expected from 2026. Tax: gambling winnings are generally not taxable for NZ recreational players (the IRD treats them as a windfall). Because USDT is a stablecoin, converting it back to NZD is less likely to produce a large taxable gain than a volatile coin — but disposals of crypto can still have tax consequences, and systematic activity may be taxed. Keep records and confirm with the IRD or an accountant. You must be 18 or older to play.
