These bookmakers all accept New Zealand players in NZD and price cricket deeply — the Black Caps, IPL, Big Bash and international series. Offers are current as of 7 August 2026; wagering terms apply. You must be 18 or older to bet.

New Zealand's only authorised domestic bookmaker is the TAB (under the Racing Industry Act 2020, operated by Entain; its social brand betcha is the same company), and it offers cricket markets. The offshore books above are licensed overseas — in Curaçao and Anjouan — and accept Kiwi players in NZD. They sit in a legal grey area, but that grey area applies to the operators, not to individual bettors. A 2025 law change targets how those offshore operators advertise into New Zealand and requires them to pay levies here. What it does not do is create any offence for you, a Kiwi punter, placing a cricket bet.
There's good news on tax, too: Inland Revenue treats recreational gambling winnings as a non-taxable windfall for New Zealand residents, so a winning bet is yours to keep. The only exception is the rare professional running a genuine business of betting. You must be 18 or older to bet, whether with the TAB or offshore.
Cricket isn't one sport for a punter — it's three or four, and each rewards a different mindset. Work out which format you're looking at before you place a bet.
In a Test you can afford patient, low-variance bets and you should always account for the draw; in T20 and T10 you're betting on chaos, so keep stakes sensible and lean on live markets. ODIs sit in the middle.
For a Kiwi punter, the Black Caps are the natural starting point — and it's where the offshore books quietly out-price the TAB most seasons. New Zealand's international summer (roughly November to March) brings home Tests, ODIs and T20Is against touring sides, and that's when local knowledge is worth real money. You know how a green Hagley Oval pitch in Christchurch behaves in the first session; you know the Basin Reserve wind; you know which of the Black Caps' seamers thrive at home. The markets Kiwis back most: match winner (H2H) — two-way in white-ball games, three-way (including the draw) in Tests; series winner; top NZ batter / bowler; and total runs & winning margin at grounds you know well. The Black Caps also tour constantly, and away form on turning subcontinental pitches is a different question to home form on seaming Kiwi decks.
Once you're past match winner, cricket opens up into one of the deepest market menus in all of betting. Depth varies by book — 22bet and Rooster.bet carry the widest cricket menus in our lineup.
The Indian Premier League is, by a distance, the most heavily bet cricket tournament among Kiwi punters — a two-month T20 carnival with the world's best players and the deepest markets any book offers. Every site in our table prices the IPL heavily: match winner, top batter and bowler for each game, tournament outright, and a wall of live markets that make the evening-to-late-night NZT slots genuinely watchable. IPL betting sits in the same grey area as all offshore betting in New Zealand — and that grey area applies to the operators, not to you. The 2025 law change regulates how offshore books advertise into New Zealand; it does not create any offence for a Kiwi placing an IPL bet. Because the IPL is a pure T20 competition, expect volatility, respect the value in props over short-priced favourites, and use live betting to react to a collapse or a powerplay onslaught.
Australia's Big Bash is the friendliest overseas tournament for a Kiwi punter, for one simple reason: the time zone. BBL matches run in the evening NZT — the same-ish slot you'd watch a Black Caps home game — so you can follow live and bet in-play without staying up all night. It's a summer T20 competition (roughly December to late January) that overlaps neatly with New Zealand's own cricket season. The market menu mirrors the IPL: match winner, top batter, top bowler, total match sixes, tournament outright and a full live suite. A handful of New Zealand players turn out for BBL franchises most seasons, which gives Kiwi punters a form read the average odds-setter doesn't have.
The global ICC calendar delivers the biggest outright markets in cricket — and it's where the Black Caps regularly punch above their weight. The T20 World Cup, the ODI World Cup (50-over) and the Champions Trophy are tournament-winner futures that books price well in advance. New Zealand's white-ball sides have a habit of going deep in ICC events, which keeps their outright odds honest value for a home audience. Outright (futures) betting means backing a team to win the whole tournament before, or during, the event. We keep this section evergreen on purpose — we won't invent specific 2026 results or odds, because they change match to match.
New Zealand time (NZT) is a long way ahead of India, England and even Australia, so a marquee overseas match might tip off at breakfast, dinner or 3am depending on where it's played. As a general guide: the Black Caps home summer plays out in daytime NZT — the easiest cricket to watch and bet live; the Big Bash runs in the evening NZT (roughly 8pm–midnight), the friendliest overseas window; the IPL runs evening to late-night NZT (India is ~6.5 hours behind, so finishes often land after midnight); and England tours run overnight NZT (~11–12 hours behind), strictly for the committed. These windows shift with daylight saving and the venue, so treat them as general guidance.
New Zealand bookmakers default to decimal odds, and they're the easiest to read: the decimal number is your total return per NZ$1 staked, stake included. Back the Black Caps at decimal 2.50 with a NZ$10 stake and you get NZ$25 back (NZ$10 × 2.50) — that's NZ$15 profit plus your NZ$10 stake. A price of 2.00 is even money; anything under 2.00 is odds-on (a favourite). Fractional odds (common in UK racing) show profit only — 6/4 is the same as decimal 2.50. American (moneyline) odds use +150 / −200 style figures. Set your book's display to decimal and keep the maths simple. Sharper decimal prices are exactly why many Kiwis bet offshore rather than with the TAB.
Cricket is arguably the best sport in the world for live betting, because it's played in discrete units — every ball, over and wicket is a fresh betting opportunity. In-play markets update ball-by-ball: next-over total, method of the next wicket, race to 50, and a match-winner price that lurches with every boundary. Most of our top books offer cash out, letting you settle a bet early for a locked-in figure — handy when the Black Caps are cruising and you want to bank the profit. Live streaming is a bonus that varies by operator and by rights territory; don't assume a stream will be there. For the full rundown, see our live & in-play betting guide.
Betting should be entertainment you can afford, not a way to make money. Odds are always in the house's favour. If it stops feeling that way, help is free and confidential.
